Another 7 months go by!

Last time I wrote, Alex was born and we were moving to San Antonio, Texas. Alex is now 7 months old and doing great. He keeps us on our toes and brings sunshine to our lives. He gains more personality by the day. It has been such an amazing experience to watch him grow up and there's much more to come. I love being a mother :) We met some friends of ours at a BBQ place near Austin one Saturday called the "Salt Lick". It is some very good tasting stuff. WOW! You get to bring your own drinks, so of course, Henry Rootbeer was taken. Alex tried to lick his way through the bottle. It was hilarious! It is now one of our favorite pictures. It even sits on daddy's desk at work.



We moved to San Antonio, Lon looked for work for about 3 months and then landed a job working for Clear Channel Outdoor in their lease department. He is on a team of people working to better their leasing process so it will be more uniform. It is challenging work for him, but he is liking the new skills he is learning.

Once Lon got his job, we went to the builder and neighborhood we had our eyes and hearts set on (a few friends of our live there as well) and bought a lot. They are just about half way finished building with rumors of completion by the first of September. I am so excited to move into our very own house! We know that we are where we need to be and we love it! We love knowing that this is where we will be raising our family. Until next time :)

New Year New Baby

So, I completely missed December with this whole blog thing...but with good reason. On December 13th 2009, Alexander Michael came into this world! After 19 hours of labor and help from an epidural 14 hours into it, I made it through and was able to finally hold my baby boy. The best part once it was over was the meal I was finally able to have. It was the best Turkey sandwich I have ever had and I ate it without ANY HEARTBURN!

The next two weeks were spent in Turlock with my parents as I needed my mother, which was a big help. We spent Christmas with my family and had fun putting Alex in his Christmas outfit. He did a lot of sleeping that day which was understandable...being that cute can take it out on a little guy like him.
Our life now consists of sleeping when we can and loving every minute we have with him. He's only 6 weeks old and we can't imagine our life without him.

Other news with our little family is that we are finally moving to San Antonio. After waiting and waiting, we have decided to move just get out there. We officially move on Feb 6th. We already have a ward and friends out there from a visit we had to the area last October. They have been such a big help in finding an apartment and the other details that come with moving.

Due Date Closer by the minute

So these days we are just waiting for the little baby to decide to make its grand entrance into this world. I saw the doctor today and was told that at 36 weeks (that's this week) baby is around the 6 pound mark. I told my doctor my fears of having a baby larger than will come out of me (OUCH!) and she said that the most baby will weigh will be around 8 pounds. FEW! But we'll see how it ends up when the time comes.

Cake, more cake, and TEXAS!

Great news! Lon passed all four sections of the CPA! Only paperwork stands in the way of his official CPA after his name. I made Lon a Brownie on bottom/white on top cake in the shape of a star because he is our "STAR". Lon scored 3 of the tests above 90% and one at 88%.

I have been in the baking mood lately and Lon mentioned a 7 layer chocolate cake at a restaurant he's eaten at before. That got me thinking...."sounds like a great challenge to me!" So I took the challenge. Over conference weekend, my sister Jessica and I took the challenge of making a 7 layer chocolate cake for her youngest daughter's 2nd birthday. After trying two different chocolate cake recipes, we found a favorite (a Hershey's chocolate cake recipe found online) and a chocolate "sticky" frosting that my maternal grandmother used to make (according to my mother). This is what it ended up looking like:


I left Kaelyn (Jessica's oldest child who is 6 in December) in the picture to compare the size of the cake with something. It was so good. There were 12 people there (3 being children under 6) and we almost had it polished off :) YUM.

I am now 30 weeks pregnant (3rd trimester and in my 7th month) and really feel large. Lon assures me that I look great and loves my pregnant belly...very good of him. I'm now use to all the kicking, stretching, etc. that is going on inside me and then wonder who this little baby is going to be, look like, etc. I've been telling Lon I hope the baby get's his nose and my toes, which really means the baby will have my nose and his toes.
Just for fun, here is a pregnant Becca picture taken at about 26 weeks (6th month). I have grown a little bigger since then. Yes...I'm making a funny face. I was tired of smiling for the camera :)

Last of all, Lon and I have been in San Antonio for the week and have fallen in love with the area and the people. We found an area that we want our house (which we plan on building) and a ward to attend church. We ward hopped the Sunday we were here and changed our minds on one of them. We walked in, started to talk to the couple who were seated in front of us (who were 8 month pregnant with their 2nd) and we all felt like instant friends. Slowly 3 other couples who were pregnant sat in the rows ahead of us. We thought that was great. Lon named it "maternity row". Now all Lon needs is a job offer from a company out here. He has great people working on his "job hunting" team, so we are confident that something will happen shortly.

Happy One Year Anniversary!

So Lon and I celebrated our one year anniversary on Aug 9, 2009. We ate our year old frozen cake and it was still VERY YUMMY! Cheesy pose, but so much fun.

Even baby Alex enjoyed the cake as baby kept kicking. I think the baby was saying "more sugar mommy!"
As our anniversary was on a Sunday we celebrated the prior day by attending the Oakland Temple. We were able to do sealings which was a great experience as we had done the same thing a year before. We plan on doing this every year on our anniversary. What better way to remember our promises to the Lord and to each other.

As you can see by the picture, the baby is growing! We had our Ultrasound appointment on Aug 18th and loved every minute of it. Lon and I both agreed to wait to find out the sex of the baby when the baby is born, but I will admit to trying to get a good look at the sex during the ultrasound...to no avail. I was only able to pick out features such as the eyes, ears, nose, hands, etc... The technician teased us at the end by saying the he knew what we were having and was able to tell right away. Well, DUH! He looks at those screens all day and knows what he is looking for. I didn't think it would be too difficult to tell, but the tech kept away from the lower half of the baby's body on purpose. Good for him. I'm glad that I didn't find out. It was just fun to try.
If I can figure out the scanner, I will try to scan some of the ultrasound pic's and post them. Otherwise well send pic's out when baby Alex has arrived (that will be in December for those who don't know or have forgotten).

Fun in July

So every 2 months isn't too bad, right?
July is turning out to be a fun and busy month. The Fourth we spent with Laina and Family and then my parents and sister's family joined us for fireworks at the park. Cute little nieces to the left!

So the good news is I have great internet access. Lon and I moved in with his parents who live in Alamo, CA to save some money on rent as we will be buying a home once we move to Texas. We are waiting for permits to come so the water project can start and Lon can start in his new role as manager with the project. My hope is to move prior to the baby being born in December so I only have to move myself and not the baby as well. If the baby is born here, then at least I won't have to change doctors. I'm now 18 weeks pregnant and starting to show a baby bump. I finally out of the "I look like I ate too many Twinkies" phase and have started feeling "flutters.

Lon loves feeling my belly and talking to little "Alex" at night. It's fun to see his excitement with our little one on the way. He's already a very proud father.

We are going on a cruise next week with my parents. Lon has never been and is very excited to go. I'm excited to see his excitement (and to be able to eat all that yummy food!) The cruise is also a celebration of Lon taking two more of his CPA exams and not having to study for 3 weeks. Only one more to go :) Go LON!

Well, that pretty much catches up on our lives. Now that I have a more reliable internet, postings will be much better!

It's May....how did that happen?

So first off....opps...no new blog in quite some time. In my defense a lot has happened and internet in my apartment is not very reliable. So since the last blog....sharks took the Presidents trophy for winning the most games out of regular season. That was great. Bad news is they lost the first round of playoff games and were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs...kind of stinky.

The other good news is I am 10 weeks pregnant! We are due December 22, 2009 and are both so very excited! Becca is feeling pretty good with very little nausea issues. Lon has had a few mornings where he doesn't feel well. I thought it was nice of him to do the whole morning sickness thing. We are going with the old fashion way of waiting until the birth to find out the sex of the baby. So when people ask "Is it a boy or a girl?" We say "yes" and then they look at us with a blank stare trying to figure it out.

It's Friday!

The Sharks are on fire! Last week they played the team to beat. Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup last year and the Sharks want it so BAD this year. Prior to playing last Saturday the teams played one another twice...a win each for each. Then they played again in San Jose last week. Very high energy, non-stop exciting game. It was a close game, but Sharks pulled it off! They proved to be better that round. Detroit put up a great fight though. Sharks remain undefeated on their own turf !!! YEAH! This is their year.

Yes, Lon is a big hockey fan and has gotten me to enjoy the games. I have even started shouting "Get him, get him good!" when a fight breaks out....Becca is that really you? Hee Hee.

This has been an eventful month. Next week especially, Wicked, another Sharks game and MY BIRTHDAY :)

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all. So far, in the year of 2009, Lon and I have been to the San Francisco Symphony and to a Sharks game! Wahoo! Both were superb. The Symphony did a great job with Braums 1st and envigorated our minds in the arts. The Sharks played fantastically and trampled all over Tampa Bay. It was exciting with fights breaking out and all. Now that's what I call real hockey. Our next adventure will be to see "Wicked" on my birthday. What a month.

Life is busy, especially for Lon, who is working full-time and coming home, running and then spending 2 hours minimum during week nights and 8 hours Saturday's studying for the CPA. The goal is to have all four tests completed by July. He can do it!

Almost through December

Doesn't it seem like we just started this month? Here we are New Years Eve Eve. Lon and I had a very eventful Christmas. Well, the whole family did. Usually Lon always gets sick on Christmas Day. This year he worked hard to prevent that. What happened instead was funny (not that we are looking back). The family went to Dickens Fair in the City. What fun that was! I will post our pictures once I get a copy. We dressed up and joined in the festivities. When we walked into the fair it literally looked like we were back in the Victorian era of the 1800's. All of Dicken's book character's wandered through the streets acting out their personal stories. What a great birthday Lon had.

Monday night right before bed Lon stated that he wasn't feeling to well. I then noticed that I wasn't either. About an hour and a half later Lon and I were sharing time through the night over the toilet. We thought it was something we ate until we heard the next day that all of Lon's family was sick. Someone had spread the joy onto the family. So instead of Lon getting sick on Christmas Day, he was sick 2 days prior and got the bonus of his wife throwing up with him just to keep him company.

New years is upon us and I am so excited for what 2009 brings :) Lon has started studying for his CPA exam and I am having fun quizzing him with flash cards. He is such a smartie! I love it! He will pass with flying colors.

Just another Monday---

So I was reading my book and getting really into it! I notice that it's raining outside and think nothing of it until it starts raining really hard. I turn and look and see that it's not rain, but HAIL....WaHOO! It looked like this in the parking lot of our apartment complex.


It was fun. It hailed pretty hard for a few minutes and then went back to normal rain.

Lon and I finished out Christmas shopping last Saturday! It was a long, but good day. Lon treated me to Macaroni Grill. YUMMY! Then we hit the stores like mad people. That's the only way to do it because it's a zoo out there! Once we left the mall, I made the comment to Lon "Now I remember why I try to avoid the mall in December, especially on Saturday's. When we got home, we both fell on the couch and just sat. It was great. I think we watched a few episodes of Frasier and laughed. Perfect ending to a busy shopping day.

Lon's Birthday is this Saturday, December 20th. We will be attending Dicken's Fair and get to dress up from that era. FUN FUN FUN! The day will be spent with the family (both sides) and end with Key lime cake (made with love especially by Becca)...at Lon's special request (sort of).

Thanksgiving FUN!

We had fun on the road for Thanksgiving. We went to Arizona to visit both of our very best friends and their families. Since we didn't want to do the whole 13 hour trip in one day, we stopped half way in Los Angelos at "Hotel Leininger." It was fun to see family again who we hadn't seen since our wedding.
We listened to book on CD while driving so the trip was more entertaining than I expected it to be. The first one we finished was The Summons by John Grisham. It was good and kept us guessing at the "who did what's" throughout the novel.
We arrived at Agnes and Tim's Wed evening as there was traffic when we got to Pheonix. It added an extra hour to our trip. But no worries! Once we got there it was fun fun fun! Question: What's the first thing you do when you get to Agnes and Tim's? You get your hair done :)

Yes...they were VERY good.

Thanksgiving morning the husbands played football in the annual Turkey bowl in Agnes' ward. They came home muddy, wet, and with big smiles on their faces! It was obvious that they had a great time. The rest of the morning everyone chipped in and prepared the food for the big feast.



We ate food until our stomach's felt like they were going to burst! Naps had to be taken...

When Lon started to nap, Mara (Agnes and Tim's 3 year old daughter) started to poke at him. I told her that he was trying to sleep. She immediately left the room and and came back with one of her blankets! She put in on Lon and told me that we had to be quiet. It reminded me about how innocent and thoughtful children are. Their hearts are so full of love and ready to share the joy. Thanks Mara for the reminder of how we all need to act.

We then met up with other good friends who I absolutely wanted to see. Jenn and her husband Conrad. We caught up with our lives and had a great time watching the children play and interact.

I love seeing these wonderful women in my life! They set a great example for what I strive to become and have helped my spread my wings and fly!

Next stop on the list was Vail, Arizona, which is just south of Tuscon. Lance and his wife Wendy live there. Lon grew up with Lance. We met them at the air museum in Tuscon and saw old airplanes and learned much. We played cards that evening and made more pies than I had ever made in my life for their annual pie party. The pie party was tasty and I was able to learn the art of pie making.
Lon (along with the other men who were visiting) helped move a storage shed from one side of he house to the other. It was very entertaining to watch as more than one person would have an idea on "the best way to do something and then watch everyone else share their ideas all at the same time. Eventually (5 hours later) the shed was moved and the work was done. Very good men...now go and eat some PIE!
The drive home was long. We stopped again at our trusty "Hotel Leininger" and went to bed at 9pm and slept soundly and deeply. It was wonderful. We listened to DaVinci Code on the way home and didn't finish it, so we went rented it just so I wouldn't be held in too much suspense.

We had a great time, but are definitely done with long drives for a while.

It's Blog Time!

Well...I caved...I now have a blog. I am actually excited about this. My last day of work is 10/24 and I will have plenty of time to regularly update (so I say now...we'll see what actually happens).



Lon and I got married on Aug 9, 2008 and have loved the almost 3 months as man and wife. It's been very nice not having to say goodbye to him at night and only goodnight. We are also working hard on Prop 8 in California. Prop 8 (for those outside CA right now) is the proposition to add an amendment to the state constitution to keep marriage between a man and a woman. The Church has asked us to commit and support it for moral reasons, and so we are doing everything we can. We hosted a calling center in our apartment on Tuesday night. It was fun having so many people crammed into our little one bedroom apartment making calls for 2 hours. I played the good hostess and keep the kitchen flowing with goodies!

I started the books by Stephanie Meyers. The first one is Twilight. Everyone I know kept recommending them to me, so I thought "ok, I'll give it a shot!" I read half way through the first book in a day! She is a great story writer. I do also recommend them to others!

We have a trip planned! Our first of our married life after the honeymoon, of course. We are going to Arizona for Thanksgiving. Both of our best friends live there and we are so pumped to spend good quality time with their families. Lon admits that he wants to watch Agnes and I "in action" as he hears that we can literally finish one another sentences and know what the other is thinking. It should be fun!
